Short Update

The Brazilian version of CNN (Globo News... the N channel) had a special on TV today about UC Berkeley! They were interviewing Brazilian foreign exchange students about their experiences at the prestigious American university. :o) It showed lots of shots of the school, like Sather Gate and Wheeler and the library and Haas, and it even showed clips of those damn sorority girls that sing a capella in front of Sather Gate. It made me soooo sentimental and nostalgic! It was also great because Alexandre got to see where I spent 2 years of my life. I miss the Bay Area sometimes, like when I'm far away and I just see still images and I can forget about all the annoying hippies and the crazy people and the cold.

Work stuff is going great; Visa stuff STILL has no answers. Time is running out! But we know that once we GET the answers we need, it will only take a day or so to get the paperwork to the appropriate people. And the paperwork just has to be recieved before my current visa expires; it doesn't have to be approved yet. I think we need to like, sit on the administrator's stomach and tickle him mericlessly until he tells us what we need to know.

Alexandre's in the process of making a delicious dinner of meat-stuffed pasta with tomato sauce and chicken. (Yes, 2 meats in one meal.) I'm going to eat that and rest.

I miss everyone!

  1. If you take a poll I am sure we all miss you more. You are on a grand adventure!!!! the rest of us are just going along with our regular life.

When you feel sad about Berkley remember how many people didn't believe in using a shower or deoderant. That clears my head right up.

How much more time do you have with the Visa? What happens if your time runs out? You get to come home.....(fingers crossed, eyes shut tight, holding my breath)

    I love you

  2. When you miss things it's always the pleasant things you miss. But it's nice to have good memories. Thats why Grandad can sit for hours and tell you over and over again about his life. and no matter where you are there's good and bad in it all. A. T. was right when she said you're on a grand adventure. But I finish that by saying and we read your blog and go along for the ride, seeing it all through your eyes. Love you xoxoxo
Don't worry about the visa, whar's meant to be will be.It'll all turn out right in the end.
    Love to Alex xoxoxo

  3. Blah to up North. Who wants to live where it's cold ALL THE TIME. You grew up in the heat. You are a desert girl!!! :) Besides the fact, you can't stand those Hippies in their luxury SUV's. I hope you can get everything worked out with the visa. Remeber (this is what Nanny told me, and I swear it works) THE SQUEEKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE. The more you bug, the more they'll be willing to help you. (just to get you out of their hair). Big hugs and kisses to you and my son-in-law.

  4. I was just on the Berkeley campus this past weekend! It was the first time i had been back since like that coampus tour with my parents when I was 17. It was so beautiful! I love the Roman architecture! I saw the Psych building and sighed. I had some time to kill so I just walked around. So much greenery and rolling hills, and these friendly hippie kids invited me to play frisbee. It was way cool. I saw Henry Rollins at Zellerbach hall, and he talked about how Nick Cave was playing at the Greek Theater down the street and I just thought that if I live there, I would be having a dilemna about who to see that night. Berkeley rules.
