And we're gonna see this:

And if we're really lucky, this:
And this, too, and not in a zoo:
And Bianca is terrified that we'll run into something like this:
I'm kinda hoping we'll see one of these, so I can take a picture with it making a "zot!zot!" hand sign:
And it's going to be amazing. Probably my best vacation in Brazil so far. I've already decided.

Well OK, I guess that's the last time I give you my consulting.
ReplyDeleteNOW WHO AM I GOING TO GO TO THE PANTANAL WITH???
Anyway, have a great time and take 7 billion pictures please. Looks like a really awesome and unique place. You being a nature/animal (bird) lover, I bet you're gonna like it.
WOW! Those pictures are gorgeous! I cant wait to hear all about your trip!!! (you know i live vicariously through you!)
ReplyDeleteAs far as vertebrate animals are concerned, I'd be happy if we stuck to the birdies and fish.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about Pantanal! But congrats on your vacation!
ReplyDeleteOla!
ReplyDeleteI have been an anonymous reader for six months. The founder of my Brasilian Portuguese school in Chicago recommended your blog. I have enjoyed all of your entries, but have been too shy to comment until now.
I have severe wanderlust and have traveled extensively in the world. In fact, the first trip that I took as a solo traveler was to Brasil and went to the Pantanal via Cuiaba. That was in 2003 and it was amazing! I just went to the Ecuadorian Amazon region in March and was slightly disappointed in the wildlife. I realized that the region was too dense (which is still fantastic in itself) to see a lot of wildlife, and while there, was thinking about all the wildlife I had encountered in the Patanal (a trip I took 9 years ago!). As an immature city girl, I was too naive to know how fortunate I was to see such wildlife. I now know how special this region is. As a bird fanatic, you will be in heaven! I cannot stress how many different types of birds you will see in small amount of time. It is simply magnificent!
On a side note, you may want to look into vaccination requirements. I know you have been there a long time and your husband is a doctor, but I was told I needed a yellow fever vaccination (but was never asked for proof). I only mention this because other comments have indicated dengue fever, etc...
Have a wonderful trip!
April
What a delightful images :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun, I absolutely loved Bonito! The caves are beautiful and swimming in the river with all the fishes was one of the most incredible experiences I've had here. You will LOVE the bird watching!!!
ReplyDeletePS I did get a Yellow fever shot but I dont think you need it...

This is going to be an amazing trip, I'm jealous! The closest I get to see wild animals (besides the NYC transit system ha ha ha) is Busch Gardens or Sea World in Florida...
